WILDFOX has been one of my favourite brands ever since my sister introduced me to them probably back in 2009? It was around the time I was obsessed with Paris Hilton + Nicole Richie…anyone remember me in those days!? My sister had this low racerback baggy WILDFOX vest with a neon rainbow coloured crest and it was literally the coolest item of clothing I could have ever been given. The obsession started there…

If you haven’t heard of the brand…I’m sorry we can’t be friends. WILDFOX was created in 2007 by Emily Faulstich + Kimberley Gordon in Los Angeles, California and grew consistently over the coming years and is still a HUGE brand today. Who is the WILDFOX girl? ”She is the Native heart, she is all neon light, she is a love child; she is a WILDFOX.” I have followed Emily’s blogs, photography and Instagram for years now and my dream came true when she agreed to feature on my blog as part of my GIRLBOSS series! Eeee. She’s the type of girl who you just want to be your best friend and I’m obviously drawn to her because she LOVES pink + all things tropical + coconut scented. Emily is also a ridiculously AMAZING photographer and illustrator (I’ll share some of her work within the posts).

1. What was the initial inspiration behind creating the brand and who is the WILDFOX girl?
We wanted to make a super soft- vintage feeling- and flattering t-shirt with vintage inspired graphics. At the time, 2007, the t-shirt options were mostly tight fitting tees that had cluttered graphics. We would borrow boyfriend’s tees because we couldn’t find any made for girls that we liked. Then we created a lifestyle behind the brand that was for girls like us- who were looking for the same thing. The Wildfox girl is someone who appreciates soft and special fabrics, wants to be comfortable but fashionable, and has a big imagination.
2. What’s been the highlight of your career so far?
I’d have to say it’s all the travelling I get to do for work. I love seeing new places and taking pictures while wandering around a new city or small town. Larry David hasn’t worn a Wildfox t-shirt yet so I can’t say I’ve had a major highlight until that happens. Whenever I drive by the store in Sunset Plaza it’s a very surreal but proud feeling that the brand has gotten that far- from just an idea Kim and I had in my bedroom in 2007- to an actual pretty pink shop in Beverly Hills. So cool. You really can make thoughts into things.
3. What are your favourite coconut related items?
Sun Bum has a coconut lip gloss that tastes like vacations on the beach. In Hawaii they sell this one coconut lotion at every “ABC” store- that’s my favourite. Also any I love any cheap shampoo and body wash from CVS that’s coconut scented 🙂 Oh and there is this bath soak that’s incredible and sugary by Herbivore. You can find it at Urban Outfitters.

4. Where has been your favourite place to travel to and the dreamiest hotel you’ve ever stayed in?
I stayed in a beautiful house in St. Lucia last year that had a surreal view of the islands and was surrounded by palm trees and a bright blue pool. A few years ago I went to Jamaica and stayed in a place called The Rockhouse Hotel. (you’ve got to look it up and see the photos).  The rooms were private bungalows on cliffs right over the deep turquoise ocean. Each bungalow had a ladder that went straight down to the sea, so every morning we’d wake up and have tea and then take our snorkelling gear and jump off the ladder and snorkel for an hour- there was a cave that you could swim into with fish I’d never seen before. Dreamiest hotel would have to be The Ritz in London where I stayed for one night and photographed it- so beautiful. Gold paradise.
5. What are your must haves for a girls night in?
Recently my friend Kara came over and we did all the fun “girl things” – face masks, nails, pore strips, tans, etc. We’ve been friends since we were 10 so for fun we ordered pizza from the local place we always used to get it, “Rusty’s”. When we were kids the pizza delivery guy couldn’t ever find my house and always used to call us back and ask what my cross-street was like 10 times. They did it again this time and we were cracking up.
6. What’s on your bucket list?
I’ve never really thought about that. I’d say traveling to as many countries as I can, or living in a lot of different places. I’d like to check out Sweden. Also the architecture in Vienna looks beautiful- definitely a place to take a ton of photos.  I’d like to learn to scuba dive….and have kids and maybe buy a beach house somewhere tropical, cook more and get in good shape and play more tennis. Also I want to start learning about writing and directing.

7. I love your illustrations! I also have your ‘HAPPY LIST’ framed in my house…what are your favourite things to draw and do you sell them?
Thank you! I love drawing my little characters. They are what the inside of my brain looks like. My favourite things to draw are funny animals with big eyes, furry long bodies, intimate objects that I give personalities. I have been selling custom drawings recently which is cool to do because I feel like I get to know the person who is commissioning it. I sell custom drawings starting at $100 and up. Email me at if you’re interested!
8. 5 Beauty Products you can’t live without!?
Skin-wise: Aquaphor Healing Ointment, SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, Dermalogica Multi Vitamin Face Mask, Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum, Ocean Potion Ever Glow and Brazilian Bum Bum Cream.
Makeup: Nars Laguna Bronzer, Chanel Foundation, L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara, Anastasia Brow Wiz, Dior Lip Glow, Dior Nail Glow.
Vitamins: Favourite is Garden of Life Raw D3 Supplement
Skin Miracle Powder: HealthForce Vitamineral Green SuperFood Powder
(that was more than 5 I know).
9. I adore your style of photography. What camera do you use and what are your favourite filters to use on instagram?
Thank you, I use a Canon 5D Mark III. Usually I just use Clarendon…haha.
10. What upcoming projects are you working on and what’s next for you?
I’ve been working on getting an agent for my work (illustration and photography), looking for an investor for my new clothing line, doing something creative everyday- collaging, drawing new characters, working on commissions, and planning work trips! I’m going to Turkey with the yacht company I work with every summer. I love being in a boat- went to Greece and Croatia with this company, “Medsailors” the past two years. It is like a dream. Also going to start taking submissions for a new Happy List, so that will be a good project to get into. 🙂

I love making lists like this and normally do it for each season of the year. Make yourself a SUMMER to do list! Here’s a few of mine for this year –
